Days 5 and 6

Okay, so I got so busy having fun that I didn't make time to blog. But I was in Hawaii so that's a good thing! Let's see......

On Thursday we spent the day at Hanauma Bay. We finally got a full day of sunshine! Me, Jon, and Jeremy snorkeled while Liz hung out on the beach. The snorkeling there is amazing. We saw two huge sea turtles and a lot of really beautiful fish and coral. Hanauma Bay is a must see for anyone going to Oahu.

After spending the day at Hanauma Bay we went on a sunset cruise. Well.... I thought it was a sunset cruise but it was more like a booze cruise. Let's just say one particular older lady made it a very memorable experience...

On to day 6. Friday was our 5th anniversary and we celebrated big! That morning the 4 of us did a flight tour of the island. It was pretty awesome. The water looked even more gorgeous from above and we got to see The Black Pearl.

After our flight we headed to chinatown for lunch. Sorry, didn't take the camera so I don't have any pictures of our yummy food. But if you happen to find yourself on Oahu one day make the trip the chinatown, yum!
Since we planned our trip so that we could be there on our anniversary, Jon and I decided to renew our vows on the beach. We wrote our own vows this time and did a renewal at sunset. I must say, this ceremony was much more relaxed than the one we had 5 years ago. I wish I had been so relaxed on our wedding day, then I may remember most of it. As soon as we started the ceremony, I began to cry. I was so happy that I couldn't hold it back no matter how hard I tried. It was beautiful and I will never forget it.

Day 1

5/8/11
We are finally in Oahu. First impression: It’s cold and rainy. Second impression: There are a lot of surfers here.
It’s 5:25am. Jet lag has allowed me to get up and go to the beach to watch the sunrise. Our plans to climb Diamond Head have been squashed due to the weather. Today we plan to spend the day on the beach.
7:25am
The weather seems to be getting better and the clouds are breaking up. Hopefully it will be a sunny day. Here is the Moana.

On Our Way!!!

5/7/2011
It’s 9:19 am and we are on our way to Phoenix. 4:30am came quite early, especially since I had a hard time falling asleep. It seems that when you need it the most, sleep takes its sweet time.
I was a little sad this morning when I woke up and it wasn’t to the sound of my baby boy’s voice. I teared up a little but Jon reassured me with descriptions of sandy beaches and much needed time to ourselves. Jareth is in the best hands possible this week. It isn’t that, that I’m worried about. It’s just that I will miss him so much. Right now he is probably finishing up breakfast and getting ready for his trip to see granny in Cookeville. I hope he woke up happy and didn’t wonder where I was. I think I’m going to have to make a call during our layover.
The plane ride has been easy so far. I hate take off. That sick feeling you get in your stomach and rises to your throat as you ascend into the air is not a pleasant, unless your name is Jon. For some reason he gets a thrill out of it. The boy loves to fly. The Zach Brown Band was kind enough to help out with my anxiety, them and a little Jason Aldean. Once in the air I put my mind to ease with my Kobo. I’m finishing up Bram Stoker’s Dracula during the flight to Oahu.
Jon is sitting across the aisle from me listening to his Ipod and mouthing the lyrics to Chris Brown. Jeremy and Liz are playing games on their Ipad next to me as I write. I don’t have my earbuds in at the moment and there is pure silence on the plane. Other than the sound of the plane, the rumpling of papers or someone sneezing or adjusting in their seat now and then, it’s pretty much silent. The person in front of my just decided to lean their seat back so now I’m typing with my laptop in my gut. Awesome. Anyhoo, so far so good in our travels.
Here are a couple of pictures:

Later
It’s 4:31pm Eastern Time…. or 2:31 Mountain Time…. or 1:31 Pacific Time. Honestly, I’m having a hard time figuring out the time difference and keeping up with which zone we are in. But I do know we are expected to land in Honolulu at 2:10 Pacific Time. But then the time doesn’t make any since because it’s a six hour flight and we’ve been in the air for about 3 hrs. So it can’t be 1:31 in HA…..?????? I’m asking Jon……He says he will explain it to me in a minute. “True Grit” is on.
Currently, we are making our way over 2,000 miles of ocean. I have a window seat but all I see out of it is cotton. I made myself watch out the window as we took off from Phoenix. It was pretty cool I must say. It was neat to watch everything below us get smaller and smaller. And it lessened the sick-to-my-stomach feeling during takeoff.
Okay Jon just explained the time difference to me. Hawaii is on Hawaii Time, not Pacific Time as I previously believed. So, it is 10:31am in Hawaii. That means we have 4 more hours to go…The flight isn’t too bad. The flight between ATL and Phoenix absolutely dragged on. But the fact that Jon and I have three seats to ourselves helps. That and they are showing a good movie.
Here's Phoenix from my view

Later
3:59 PDT
We're here!!!!

First View of Hawaii.... Diamond Head

Okay Im not going to blog about our arrival yet but I did have to share a picture of something we found in our bathroom.

Off to beach we go!!!!!!!!!
