Oh, Tenenbaum!

I've never been able to get a good picture of my Christmas tree. They are always blurry and loose their magic in a photo. But now I'm proud to say I have a decent picture of my tree. I'm still working on white balance so bear with me. Also my tree is only decorated 1/2 way up. This is due to a certain one year old's facination with ornaments.

Editing

Editing can do so much for a photo. A boring photo can be brought to life and with a click or two you can completely change a photo's meaning. Here are some photos I edited. The first is the untouched photo for comparison. The first photo I took in auto mode and the second in manual.

Family Time

I had a fun visit from my aunt and cousins today! When they come to town we always go to Brusters. I thought an ice cream trip was a great opportunity for photos!

Excuse Me, Again...

Strangers beware! While visiting the park Sunday I asked a couple if they would mind me taking a few photos of them. They were so sweet and so happy together. I'm getting some good practice!

Excuse me please.........

On Saturday I met my mom halfway to Athens to bring her and my dad Jareth for the night. We met in a tiny town called Philidelphia. Its more of an exit than a town. We met at a gas station right off the interstate. Next to the gas station was an old farm. There was a field of cows, a rusty silo, an old blue GMC work truck, and some haybales. So, of course I had to take some photos. I carry my camera just about everywhere now. As I was about to leave I noticed an older man had been watching me. I was a little nervous but I waved and smiled. He did the same. Then he got in a yellow work truck and I got into the camry. I wanted to get a little closer to the farm to get a couple more shots. I pulled out in front of him and pulled over by an old barn/shed on the property. He started to pull into the driveway! He lived there! A little embarrased, I asked his permission to take some photos of his property. He smiled and said it was fine. I got some pretty good shots I think.

Jackson

Our family dog is more like a child than an animal to us so of course I had to get some shots of him with the new camera right away. I found him sleeping in the nursery...

Oh Manual!

This is my second day with the camera and I am having a very hard time putting it down! I learned some new things today. Manual mode is no joke! After reading a great tutorial by Kate Crafton this is what I did.

First Day

I bought a Canon Rebel XS on ebay for about $400.00. When it finally got here I was so giddy! After what felt like an eternity (2 hrs) to let the battery charge I chose my first subject, Jareth of course. I got him dressed and took him outside and started snapping away. Here are a few of the shots I got. I had some fun with the last one. I uploaded it to picnik and played with editing.
